11:15 AM-12:00 PM - Erosion and Sediment Control on Utility-Scale Solar Projects: Best Practices and Lessons Learned -
Description: Rising demand for energy, green energy goals, and grid diversification has resulted in rapidly expanding utility-scale solar development (50+ MW; 400+ acres) across the Midwest and throughout the US. With this growth, effective erosion and sediment control has become a critical component of project planning, construction, and long-term operation. Large construction footprints present unique challenges that often exceed those encountered on traditional development projects.  This presentation will discuss best practices for designing, implementing, and maintaining successful erosion and sediment control programs throughout the lifecycle of a utility-scale solar project—from development, design, and permitting through construction, restoration, and operations. Key topics will include site planning considerations, construction sequencing, stabilization strategies, inspection and maintenance programs, and adaptive approaches for addressing changing field conditions.
