Director of Membership Engagement

The Director of Membership Engagement is responsible for providing general support to the President & CEO and Director of Operations to increase membership satisfaction and engagement, assist with Council Meetings, enhance membership experiences for fundraising activities, and provide customer service to members and prospective members.

Position objective: The individual in this position develops and delivers profitable member-focused programs, including meetings, special events, and educational training that member companies will value and support. They carry out routine tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision; however, support and direction are available as needed for unusual projects and activities.  This position is part time and will be permitted to work up to 1080 hours per fiscal year.  This position is not benefit eligible.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will lead planning and implementation of programs to increase engagement of all members, and onboarding of new members, leading to increased retention.
  • Work with volunteer members of select committees to help them carry out their activities and works with committee chairs on scheduling and coordinating committee meetings.
  • Serve as lead planner for the ACEC/MO Winter Meeting.
  • Provide support to the ACEC/MO Environmental Committee in leading and planning the Environmental/Energy Seminar in August.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective members and conduct follow up emails, phone calls, and (where necessary or feasible) personal visits.
  • Provide support to the ACEC/MO Business Practices Committee and work with members to conduct quarterly webinars for members on topics of interest identified by the membership.
  • Respond to general inquiries from members and nonmembers on association activities and programs.
  • Augment the Association’s current social media efforts with additional content and new approaches to reach members and raise the profile of ACEC/MO across a broad spectrum of mediums.

Secondary duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide the Director of Operations support service on events and programs where they are not lead staff person.
  • When needed, attend legislative committee hearings in the Missouri Legislature and report outcomes to the President & CEO.
  • Assist the President & CEO with political/legislative activities such as regional coffees, Engineer’s Day in the Missouri Capitol.
  • Other duties as assigned to support acquisition, engagement and retention of ACEC/MO membership initiatives.

 Qualifications: At least 10 years of association or program experience, including independently managing events and programs that may include marketing, membership, digital/social media strategy and membership recruitment.  Must have demonstrated success in building programs, fundraising, and customer service to support programmatic outcomes.  The ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis is essential.  Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and demonstrated project management skills.   Must be willing to work in a team-based environment to achieve positive outcomes.  Prior experience with MemberClicks or other AMS preferred.

This position reports to the President & CEO.
